2024 Wedding Cake and Dessert Trends

7 Wedding Cake Trends for 2024

Whether you’re a trend setter or need help finding a wedding cake style that’s right for you, these wedding cake trends are sure to inspire you and your wedding planning this year. These trends will allow you to express your unique personality while delighting your guests and making dessert a memorable experience for all of you. We’ve identified some of the cake styles that will be most popular this year.

1. Wildflower Aesthetic

Pressed flowers, dried flowers and fresh flowers will be used to create a natural, wild, and ethereal look. We saw many brides asking for these florals instead of classics like roses, and it’s only getting more popular. Additionally, brides have been using these florals to influence their wedding vibe- color palettes, bouquets, and centerpieces, and want their cake to match. We absolutely love this use of florals and are extra happy to use pressed and dried flowers as they hold up wonderfully during the reception due to being pressed or dried. It’s definitely a winning trend.

2. Bolder Flavors

There’s always room for vanilla and a good cake in almost any flavor will be sure to please, but in 2024 couples will be looking for cake flavors that are influenced by our ever growing global society. No matter if you’re incorporating flavors from your favorite travel destination or flavors inspired by your heritage, flavors that speak to your personality are the way to go. Need some flavor inspo? Consider Matcha and pistachio, passionfruit, yuzu or adding herbs to your cake profile( I’m a huge fan of adding rosemary- lemon rosemary anyone?)

3. Highly Personalized Cakes and Desserts

Long gone are the days of having the cake your mom and every other bride had. In 2024 couples will be looking for ways to customize their cakes and dessert tables so that their personality is present in as many aspects of their wedding as possible. We absolutely love this trend because we think weddings should be all about the couple anyway🤷🏽‍♀️ Ways we think this will be incorporated? Unique, custom toppers; cakes that share a bit of info about how the couple met; flowers or symbols that represent the couple or family members. 4. Classic Elegance

While big and bold cake elements will be trending, classic cakes are ALWAYS in. Many couples love the idea of a classic cake for their wedding day; and cakes that have minimal decoration fit perfectly for couples whose wedding aesthetic is minimal, classic and elegant. While these cakes may be simple sounding they are often provide the perfect understated elegance for your wedding and a gorgeous look in wedding photos.

5. Sustainable + Allergen Friendly Desserts

Desserts that are made for everybody. As the popularity of alternatives to gluten, dairy and nuts continue to rise, so does the need for cakes that are made with these alternatives. Couples are looking to include all of their guests in their wedding and leaving a guest out due to a food restriction or preference is a thing of the past. Additionally, this isn’t just a call for regular gluten free and dairy free substitutes that could be laden with unhealthy or harmful ingredients; couples are looking for quality alternatives that align with their increased awareness about sustainability and how things are made. And speaking of sustainability, couples are also looking for cakes and desserts that are made with local and/ or sustainable ingredients. Weddings can often be an unsustainable event, with the look of the wedding trumping any sustainability practices. However as the options for eco-friendly and sustainably made products increases, vendors and couples alike are able to better choose products that are beautiful and more ethically sourced and created.
